Soap Basket Boutique By Ani...Mothers Day Poem and thanks for all you do.

For all our Mothers who we can never replace , here's a poem I think you will like and appreciate on this very special day.
Mothers Day Poem:

M - O - T - H - E - R
"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell
"MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.
Howard Johnson (c. 1915)

Soap Basket Boutique By Ani...Are you really relaxing during your time off?

Do you have fun and relax when you get  out of work during the week? Why is this a subject matter today? Well let me tell you in 5 ways that I think you can relate with me on:
  • So much of our TV, radio and additionally Internet news is bad news that it's hard to disciple when I can hear something that doesn't depress me..not relaxing here
  • Eating dinner has to be on scheduled somewhat early or I will not properly manage my health..not always easy to relax here
  • Phone conversations when you are tired always seem like a long process that unfortunately you can't enjoy even with the most pleasant person..not relaxing here
  • I meet some people after work and get home late which throws off my next day energy completely.. not relaxing here
  • I clean on the weekday because I try to enjoy my weekends and get tired in the process..not relaxing here
It does make one wonder how much fun and relaxation we get to during our weekly responsibilities. The schedule you keep such as eating properly along with an exercise program schedule is more an essential today than ever. When I grew up dinner was at 6 PM and all personal activities were based on a rather uniform schedule that most of us worked with. Today the game has changed and the family time is much more scattered based on kids today involved in only car driven activities. Riding to places like we did is out and that means more difficulty getting everyone together at once. I miss those more scheduled days but reality and what you want is something that can't be changed. When you do get the chance to kick back it sure does feel good. Let me know what you think and we can share ideas.
Thank you for your loyalty,
Ani

Soap Basket Boutique By Ani...Holiday thoughts for friends and family.

As we conclude a week of religious holidays that hopefully had you in contact with friends and family, did you ever wonder how may people were not lucky enough because their loved ones are spread out due to a variety of reasons? Some families have members all over the world and a few times a year get a chance to sit and really enjoy each others company.  We all have heard and seen people who have been lucky to grow up with grandparents and other family members in the same town. But this is so uncommon that it's a sad day when we only can share holidays as a time for reflection. The "empty nest" syndrome hits all parents but the ones who have their children close really have a better time as the grandchildren come into the world.. Don't forget to enjoy ever minute while your family is  growing up and savor the times with other family members. It never hurts to maintain positive relationships as our world has so many ups and downs and who has a contract to live to be 100? Not me or anyone else so on this week of personal religious thoughts make sure we don't omit how important our family and friends are to us.
Warmest Regards,

Soap Basket Boutique By Ani...Autism and what is holding results up?

Finding a cure for Autism has been a parents dream and yet the stonewalling that happens before we identify the cause has long been a disgrace. Those who research the disease have noted continually that the mercury shots our children take are a primary cause, but that claim falls on deaf ears. When you look at the results that come across the medical industry reports it's clear we have a target in site and yet the results are swept away once again protected from the reality that hits us square in the face. Take a look at a recent article from naturalnews.com that points out some interesting facts:
Put more simply, the research team, headed by Janet K. Kern from the Institute of Chronic Illnesses in Maryland, identified nearly two-dozen metabolic and systemic changes that occur inside the body as a result of mercury intoxication. And it just so happens that these same changes also commonly occur in children with ASD, many of whom were injected with mercury in the form of Thimerosal as a result of childhood vaccinations."Although there may be genetic or developmental components to autism, the evidence in this current review of the brain findings in autism clearly indicates the reality of brain injury in ASD ... (and) the brain injury symptoms which characterize autism closely correspond to those seen in sub-acute Hg (mercury) intoxication," wrote the authors in their conclusion.
We wait for results and when we have a path to follow we get stopped. Who is at fault? Who is the one who has the most to lose if the mercury issue is indeed true? Our friends from the pharmaceutical companies and physicians who prescribe these unlimited shots come to mind. Are we ever going to see healthy findings over money and corporate expectations? Not at this rate.

Soap Basket Boutique By Ani..More years on the job and better health.

Being able to retire healthy so you can enjoy retirement years is something we aspire to do but are we working at that goal now? I see more and more people in their 50's working out especially walking which is great to see. My point today will center on activities that will help the process and what we see as essential steps to keep the momentum going. Are you eating correctly? Are you taking the time to maintain your individual workout schedule despite your lack of time? What about stress and your steps to eliminate them from your life? Do you have activities that you can carry over into retirement and still enjoy them? One point also is the fact that retiring took a step in the wrong direction with the economy forcing more people back to work in their late 50's and early 60's.it's a story you don't see publicized but the economy has effected more people who now have seen smaller 401k payouts and are reluctant to retire based on financial uncertainty. Gone are the days when retirement had a time frame to it as the last 6 years diminished the comfort zone so many had.
In the coming days we all have to be more aware of our health as we have to put more years into our careers than expected. The best way to be ready for the increased years behind a desk is to maintain good health and an exercise program that in coordination with a proper diet keeps you fit. Are we a generation facing new obstacles? Yes we are and our obstacle is understanding our health is more important than ever as companies consolidate and new jobs are difficult to find. You are the president of your body and doing everything possible to stay healthy is an everyday job. People use to retire at 58-60-62-65 right? Well now based on economic conditions those age groups will change and to compete you have to be healthy and ready for potentially more years on the job. Are you in this position that you have to have extended years on the job? Facing anything with good health is possible but that's up to you. If you think about it each generation faces problems and ours is being ready to put more years into our jobs. Nobody likes it unless you're the real lucky one, but being physically prepared is an assignment we can achieve if we schedule ourselves effectively now. What do you think?

Soap Basket Boutique By Ani...Snow is coming and health hazards not far behind!

Warning….Here we go again all of us on the east coast! As the Northeast is going to have a storm this weekend it's always noteworthy how everyone has to be aware that shoveling and too much heavy lifting can cause serious if not deadly results if you’re not careful. My diabetic husband has to watch it carefully as does anyone picking up a shovel or using muscles that have not been exposed to heavy lifting over time. We all sit back and say not me but we should realize that the heavier the snowfall the more time we will be outside clearing a path for our family or friends. In the past I have been careful but the storm that is coming opens up this conversation once again for all of us. As a woman I have little to do with the heavy lifting but then again ice and slippery conditions are health factor also. Salt on the ground may give you better traction but that doesn’t always hold true with driving conditions. After the storm Sandy we had recently all of us should take steps to make the snow cleanup a less stressful task!
Best steps be on the side of caution and I hope anyone in the path of any weather related storm takes caution instead of bold foolishness.

Soap Basket Boutique By Ani...Toxics...It can happen anywhere.

As a person who writes about the terrible pollutants that invade our communities I have a special note today which comes from my own backyard. In my area there was a recent story that headlined “Bay Shore residents file lawsuit over toxic plumes” which highlighted the uncontrollable pollution that happened years ago and now has destroyed homes and lives. A toxic plume has reached the destructive state in our area and who’s to blame? You bet our officials who are supposed to guard us from harm. Just take a quick peak at the anxiety families are going through presently in Long Island:
Bay Shore residents have filed a new lawsuit against National Grid and its predecessor KeySpan, seeking to recover value in their homes that was lost because of toxic plumes under their neighborhood and the ongoing effort to clean them up, their lawyer said. The suit, filed in State Supreme Court in Riverhead by William Sullivan and his wife, Lynn Chmurzynski, in December, says that a series of coal-tar plumes "invaded and stigmatized the value and marketability" of their homes. Their Babylon attorney, Irving Like, said 37 additional residents have retained him and been verified as plaintiffs in the case, pending filing of an amended complaint next Wednesday. Over the past half-decade, Like said, he has filed 16 individual lawsuits against the companies, many of which have been dismissed or are on appeal, and filed tax grievances for 60 residents. Islip hasn't lowered valuations based on the plume, a spokesman said. The latest suit says that continuing efforts to treat the plume will require future restrictions on the properties for an indefinite period, further devaluing them. The companies "have refused to certify in writing that the premises are free of contamination or toxicity,"
The fact that our area has a high rate of breast cancer also addresses a subject that we all should realize…Our waters are filled with pollutants and who drinks the pollutants…us! Time to face the fact that we have been polluted for years and we should never let the people who did it get away even though it may have happened 70-80 years ago.
